Slip Testing Services

Independent slip testing surfaces helps property owners and managers to Reduce Your Risk!

Regular slip resistance measurement is an integral part of any risk management program, establishing that the slip resistance of pedestrian surfaces comply with the recommendations for specific locations as specified in HB197 "An Introductory Guide to the Slip Resistance of Pedestrian Surface Materials”.

There are many factors that may influence the risk of slips and falls. For property managers and owners, the level of slip resistance of a property's pedestrian surfaces is one area that can be monitored.

Other factors that may influence a slip fall incident include type of footwear, speed and type of gait, use of walking aids, and lighting.

Areas tested include any internal and external walkways, steps and ramps, common loading bays, pedestrian crossings and other painted car park indicators, food preparation and wet waste handling areas, toilets and many other locations.

ISTS provides NATA accredited wet pendulum and dry friction measurement using the equipment shown to the following relevant standards.

  • AS/NZS.4663:2004 Slip resistance measurement of existing pedestrian surfaces
  • AS/NZS.4586:2004 Slip resistance classification of new pedestrian surface materials
